Terms and conditions
Version 1.3 — effective 21 September 2026.
Operator: FixFair is the trading name of Scott Wilcox, a sole trader. Service address: Corner Cottage, Mauduit Road, Hanslope, MK19 7NJ, United Kingdom. Email: support@fixfair.co.uk.
1. Acceptance and eligibility
These terms govern use of fixfair.co.uk and the FixFair service. By creating an account, posting a job, paying to unlock job details or otherwise using FixFair, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Notice. You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter contracts. If you use FixFair for a business, you confirm that you have authority to bind that business.
2. What FixFair provides
FixFair is an online introduction and record-keeping platform connecting people seeking work with independent tradespeople. FixFair does not carry out, inspect, supervise or guarantee work; employ or act as agent for a tradesperson; set the final contract price; or become a party to the contract for the work. Any contract for work is directly between the homeowner or job poster and the chosen tradesperson.
3. Accounts and security
You must provide accurate, current information, keep login details confidential and promptly tell us about suspected unauthorised use. One person or business must not create misleading, duplicate or impersonating accounts. You are responsible for activity through your account unless caused by our breach of duty.
4. Homeowners and job posters
Posting a job is free. Job posters must describe the work honestly, have authority to request work at the property, upload only lawful content, keep private contact details current and promptly close jobs that are no longer available. A job post is not a promise to hire, but users must not post fake jobs, use quotes only to benchmark prices with no genuine possibility of proceeding, or discriminate unlawfully.
5. Tradespeople
Tradespeople use FixFair in the course of business and remain solely responsible for their identity, competence, qualifications, licences, memberships, insurance, tax, pricing, availability, consumer-law information, cancellation rights and the legality and quality of their work. They must assess each job independently, quote accurately, disclose exclusions and obtain any necessary permissions. They must not claim approval, qualifications or insurance they do not hold.
6. Approval and verification
A FixFair profile approval means only that we reviewed the information submitted against our platform checks at that time. An identity-check label refers only to the stated identity-check status. Neither is an endorsement, accreditation, guarantee of qualifications, solvency, insurance, conduct or work quality. Users should carry out their own checks, including references, insurance evidence and relevant official registers.
7. £9 job-detail unlocks
An approved tradesperson may pay £9 to unlock the contact opportunity for one specific job and submit a quote. The price and what will be supplied are shown before payment. A job-details unlock does not guarantee that contact details remain unchanged, the homeowner replies, an appointment occurs, a quote is accepted or work or income results. Contact details may be used only for that job and must not be sold, shared, harvested or used for unrelated marketing.
By choosing to unlock job details, you expressly request immediate supply of the digital job-details service. Once the contact opportunity has been made available and the service has been fully performed, any statutory cancellation right that can lawfully be lost after express consent and acknowledgement will end. This does not affect rights where the service is faulty, misdescribed or not supplied.
8. Unlock-fee refunds
You may request review of a £9 unlock fee where the job was fake or duplicated, was removed before access, or the paid contact information was materially invalid or technically inaccessible. We may ask for evidence and may correct access before refunding. A refund is not normally due only because a homeowner does not reply, changes their mind, rejects a quote, chooses another tradesperson or no work results. Nothing in this policy limits mandatory statutory rights. Approved refunds are returned through the original payment method where reasonably possible.
9. Quotes, contracts and payments for work
Quotes should clearly state price, VAT where applicable, scope, exclusions, materials, timing and validity. Users must agree the final scope, price, schedule, changes, cancellation terms and payment arrangements directly and preferably in writing. Unless FixFair expressly introduces a separate payment service, money for the work is paid outside FixFair. FixFair is not responsible for deposits, workmanship, delays, damage, payment disputes or enforcing the contract between users.
10. Messages, records and reviews
Messages and job records may be retained as described in the Privacy Notice. Users should keep their own copies of important agreements and receipts. Reviews must describe a genuine FixFair job and be honest, relevant and lawful. We may investigate, delay, label, hide or remove reviews that appear fake, abusive, incentivised, irrelevant, unlawful or contrary to these terms, but we do not promise to verify every statement.
11. User content and intellectual property
You retain ownership of text, photographs, logos and other content you submit. You confirm that you own it or have all permissions needed to use it and that it does not infringe copyright, trade marks, privacy, confidentiality or other rights. You grant FixFair a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, copy, resize, display and otherwise use that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure and moderate the service. We will seek separate permission before using your photographs or other submitted content in advertising. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for copies retained in backups or legal records where justified.
The FixFair name, branding, software, layout, text and original platform materials belong to Scott Wilcox trading as FixFair or the relevant licensors. Except as allowed by law, you must not copy, scrape, republish, reverse engineer, sell or exploit them without written permission.
12. Copyright and rights complaints
If you believe content on FixFair infringes your rights, email support@fixfair.co.uk with your name and contact details, identification of the protected work, the exact location of the complained-of content, why you believe use is unauthorised, and a statement that the information supplied is accurate. We may temporarily remove content, request evidence, contact the uploader and restore content where appropriate. Knowingly making a false complaint may cause loss to others and may lead to account action or legal liability.
13. Prohibited use
You must not use FixFair for fraud, harassment, threats, discrimination, unlawful or unsafe work, intellectual-property infringement, malware, automated scraping, unsolicited marketing, data harvesting, payment manipulation, review manipulation, bypassing platform security, or obtaining contact information for any purpose unrelated to the relevant job.
14. Safety
FixFair cannot guarantee a user’s identity, conduct or suitability. Users are responsible for personal and property safety, checking credentials, agreeing access arrangements and using appropriate insurance and written contracts. Do not share passwords or security codes. Stop contact and report serious concerns. Call 999 where there is immediate danger.
15. Moderation, suspension and termination
We may reject content, restrict features, suspend or close accounts, preserve evidence or report matters to relevant authorities or service providers where reasonably necessary to enforce these terms, protect users, investigate fraud or safety concerns, comply with law, address non-payment or protect FixFair’s systems and reputation. Where appropriate, we will give notice and an opportunity to respond.
16. Availability and changes
We aim to keep FixFair available and accurate but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. We may maintain, secure, update or discontinue features. We may change these terms for legal, security or service reasons. Material changes will be notified reasonably in advance where practicable; changes will not retrospectively remove rights already accrued.
17. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or mandatory consumer rights. If you are a consumer, FixFair is responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill or breach of these terms, but not loss caused by another user, the underlying work contract, inaccurate user content, your failure to take reasonable precautions, or events outside our reasonable control.
If you use FixFair for business purposes, FixFair is not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity, anticipated savings, goodwill or data, or indirect or consequential loss. Subject to liabilities that cannot legally be limited, FixFair’s total liability arising from a paid job-details unlock is limited to the greater of £100 and the total unlock fees that business user paid to FixFair during the previous 12 months. Nothing makes FixFair liable for a tradesperson’s work or a homeowner’s conduct.
18. Business-user responsibility
A business user is responsible for losses and reasonable costs arising from its unlawful content, misuse of personal data, infringement of third-party rights, breach of the direct work contract or material breach of these terms, to the extent caused by that business user and recoverable under applicable law.
19. Privacy
Our Privacy Notice explains how personal data is used. Contact details unlocked for a job are personal data and must be handled lawfully, securely and only for that job.
20. Complaints
Contact support@fixfair.co.uk with the account email, relevant job reference and a clear description of the issue. We will aim to acknowledge complaints promptly and assess them fairly. FixFair may help users communicate but is not obliged to decide or mediate disputes about the underlying work.
21. General
If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remainder continues. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver. You may not transfer your account or rights under these terms without our permission. These terms, together with the Privacy Notice and any checkout information, form the agreement between you and FixFair about the platform service.
22. Governing law and courts
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you retain any mandatory protections and may bring proceedings in the courts available under applicable consumer law. Business users agree that the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
